Phlegm’s Bookish Characters in Brooklyn’s Sheepshead Bay

Phlegm

In his signature illustrative style, Sheffield-based Phlegm was busy these past two days gracing a huge wall in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn with his mesmerizing characters, books-in-hand.  These images were captured yesterday.

Brilliant pictures. Great to see a brand new Phlegm piece – thanks for posting them.

The objects in the figures’ hands look more like phones / tablets to me. I wonder if it’s another comment on people’s use of technology, like this previous piece in Sheffield called Isolated together? http://hairbyslice78.wordpress.com/2013/09/04/isolated-together-by-phlegm/

That is so interesting! I’m hoping they’re books. But you may be right! Lois

An unusual connection there with another piece of Phlegm’s work – he painted a mural in Bantry which is on the Sheep’s Head Way walking route in County Cork, Ireland. I wonder if this Sheepshead Bay has a historical connection with people from Cork’s Sheep’s Head peninsula?
