“Learn and Skate” Urban Art Paddle 8 Charity Auction: Fasim, 1010, Sandra Chevrier, Martha Cooper, L’Atlas, Remed & More

A non-profit organization based in France, Learn and Skate is dedicated to bringing culture, education and skateboarding to places with insufficient economic resources. Proceeds from the works on Learn and Skate‘s current Paddle 8 auction will be used to build a skatepark and pay teachers to give free English, Japanese and art classes to children in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Close to 50 celebrated urban artists and photographers are participating in this auction. Pictured above is “Tag Head,” fashioned with acrylic and marker on enhanced serigraphy by the ingenious Valencia-based artist Germán Bel aka Fasim.

A Benefit Fundraiser for Young New Yorkers Honoring Michael K. Williams with: Icy and Sot, Guerrilla Girls, Jordan Seiler, Kara Walker, Distort, Nicholas Galanin, Shepard Fairey & more

Committed to using art to transform the ways that teens are prosecuted and sentenced in New York’s adult criminal justice system, Young New Yorkers’ fifth annual Silent Art Auction will fund its grassroots arts program for teens facing criminal charges as adults. Curated by Layqa Nuna Yawar and Ann Lewis, the fundraiser features works by over 80 artists. On Wednesday, May 10th, the Annual Silent Auction will take place from 7-10pm at 548 W. 28th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. Its special honoree is the wonderfully gifted, Brooklyn-based actor and activist Michael K. Williams. Among the artworks to be auctioned are several with a distinct political consciousness. Featured above is Icy and Sot, Stop Police Brutality, Spray paint on wood. Here are several more socially-engaged artworks to be auctioned:

FAAM Presents Major Street Art Auction: Faile, Iena Cruz, Tracy 168, Luis Berros, Abstrk, Speedy Graphito, Banksy & more

While visiting Miami’s Design District yesterday, I had the opportunity to preview FAAM‘s sixth edition of its “Major Street Art Auction.” Pictured above is one side of Faile‘s hugely impressive tower. Here are several more images of works that will remain on exhibit through Sunday, with a live auction tomorrow, Saturday evening, at 5PM.
