The Wall on Bowery and Houston Street

January 18, 2012

For the past several years, the huge wall on Manhattan’s Bowery and Houston Street has served as a canvas for some of the globe’s most expressive street art.  Featuring the work of a diverse range of artists from the hugely talented Brazilian twins Os Gemeos to Brooklyn’s famed Faile duo, it entices and engages passersby daily. Here are a few highlights of the past two years:

Os Gemeos installation: summer, 2009:

I WORKED RIGHT ON THAT CORNER WHEN J D BRAUNER HAD THEIR ORIGINAL STORE THERE. FORGOT WHAT WAS UP ON THE WALL AT THE TIME, SOMETHING INTERESTING. HAVE NOT SEEN THE WALL IN A FEW YEARS NOW, REALLY SHOULD TAKE A RIDE DOWN THERE TO CHECK IT OUT. FUNNY, NEVER KNEW HOW FAMOUS THAT WALL REALLY IS, SOME BIG NAMES DID THEIR WORK THERE. ALWAYS LLIKED THAT WALL. HOPE IT STAYS THERE FOR A LONG TIME.
