From August 19 – August 25, Los Muros Hablan, an international urban arts festival, gave a voice to silent, empty walls in East Harlem and the South Bronx. Presented by La Repuesta, a leading Puerto Rican cultural space, Los Muros Hablan NYC, featured a wonderfully eclectic group of global artists.

omg! so many great artists in nyc and they have to come here to paint a bug on a wall that looks like a sketch? wwhat about the murals on 138 st bx? BORING! SOOOO FREAKING BORING!

The first time I saw Betsy Casanas mural around the corner from me on Park Avenue I was simply amazed at the beauty presented on the wall. Every so often I would stop to view it on the way home. This evening I looked at it and it sort of comes to life in the dim lights from the nearby buildings. I just had to inquire as to the name of the artist. Little did I know that some of the other murals that I have been viewing in my community were part of a larger project. Thank you to all the artists who contributed to this wonderful project in El Barrio.
